Cards of Destiny is Mary Greer's three-piece practice: a birth card calculator that pins a single card to the day you were born, a Planetary Ruling Card that sits seven steps back on the 52-card spread, and a 52-day card cycle that walks back through the deck from that anchor. Round 1

The birth card calculator

The birth card calculator starts with the date of birth and reduces it to a single card. We take the year, multiply the month by the day, digit-sum the total, and keep reducing until the answer lands between 1 and 52. That number is your Birth Card — your seat at the table for life, and the card your daily and yearly readings orbit.

Each of the 52 entries has a planetary ruler (Sun, Mercury, Venus, Mars, Jupiter, Saturn, the lunar nodes) and a short reading. The numbers come from the catalog, so any edit to a card shows up on this page on the next build. The reading below is one sample pair — your birthday yields your own.

Round 2

The Planetary Ruling Card

The Planetary Ruling Card is the answer to a separate question: which card rules the stretch of the year in which you were born? On a 52-card spread laid out around your Birth Card, the Planetary Ruling Card sits seven steps back — the formula reads planetary = ((birthCard − 8 + 52) mod 52) + 1. For the February 17, 1981 sample pair below, the Birth Card is the Eight of Diamonds and the Planetary Ruling Card is the Five of Clubs — preserved verbatim from the founder's reference book.

A sharp negotiator — you read the room and you win the small battles, sometimes before anyone notices them started. Useful as that is, the wins that hollow out the room are not really wins. Step back from the ones that leave the air too thin.

Day Seven of the 52-day cycle lands back on the Birth Card — the Planetary Ruling sets the tone, day by day, until the cycle wraps at the year's edge.

Round 3

The 52-day card cycle

The 52-day card cycle starts at the Planetary Ruling Card on each birthday anniversary and ticks forward one card per day, wrapping mod 52 at the year's edge. On day zero you hold the Planetary Ruling Card; on day seven you land back on the Birth Card. Innerglyph shows the full rotation — today's position, the gap back to the Planetary Ruling Card, and a short reflective line for each step.

The cycle is the simplest of the three pieces to feel: track it for a couple of months and the Planetary Ruling Card stops being an abstract answer and starts reading like the season's weather.
